We are on the Move to our new home in Building 25 Archerfield Airport
Queensland Aero Club held its first meeting in August of last year and those in attendance were members of the Royal Queensland Aero Club and other people with an interest in aviation. The meeting was held in the hangar of Flying Fighters with Mr. Steve Hart as our gracious host. As a result of discussions at that meeting, all following meetings and social events have been held on the mezzanine level of Flying Fighters hangar.
As time passed, we received feedback from members indicating that the Club should consider moving to another location and the board duly investigated other options that were open to us. After reviewing our options and holding discussions with Archerfield Airport Corporation, the board has decided to move the Club’s location to building 25 Qantas Avenue, which is located between hangars 3 and 4.
The Club officially takes possession of the premises on the 1st July 2018 and moves are underway to install the display cabinets and the remainder of the Club’s furnishings into the building. The Club’s memorabilia, which is presently in storage, will also be moved into the new premises for display and to enhance the Club like ambience. The move will be completed in time for the next social evening which will be held on Friday 6th July 2018.
We hope as many members as possible will be able to attend next Friday night and provide comment on the new premises and any possible improvements that could be made to improve the ambience. The new premises will allow for better social activities such as barbeques in the outside area adjacent to the building and pilots participation in future Club flying events will find aircraft parking more convenient.
We would like to also take this opportunity to acknowledge the board and staff of Archerfield Airport Corporation who have been most generous in assisting the Club as we go through this phase of rebuilding.
Safe Flying
